What Is a Dental Emergency?
You may need immediate treatment from a dentist after business hours for the following dental emergencies:
- Persistent, intense oral pain
- Knocked-out tooth
- Broken, chipped, fractured or cracked tooth
- Torn soft oral tissues
- Fractured or cracked tooth
- Lost crown or filling
What To Do Until You Meet With a Dentist?
If you cannot be seen right away, you may need to take action before you come in:
- Knocked-Out Tooth: Hold the tooth by the crown and rinse with water only. Place the tooth into the socket and gently bite down. If you cannot, hold the tooth between the cheeks and gums or place it in a glass of milk until you can be seen within 30 minutes.
- Cracked, Broken or Fractured Teeth: Call our dentists for an appointment. Rinse with water and stop the bleeding with gauze.
- Lost Dental Restoration: Clean the crown with water and place it back over the tooth with dental cement.
