What Is an Implant-Supported Bridge?
When you opt for an implant-supported dental bridge, you will find that it is very much like a traditional dental bridge, except that the bridge is supported by dental implants instead of teeth. Because of this, healthy teeth will not need to be altered to anchor the dental bridge.

How Does It Work?
The implant-supported bridge will consist of:
- Dental implants that are made of These implants will be surgically inserted into the jawbone. You might receive as many dental implants as missing teeth, or our dentists may choose to skip one or more spaces because of insufficient jawbone density or another issue.
- Abutments, which are made from titanium, gold or porcelain. The abutments will be attached to the top of the dental implants to support the
- Your restoration will consist of several crowns which are then attached to create a dental bridge. This restoration will be custom-made to match the shade of the natural teeth. Your dental bridge restoration can consist of two, three or four units (or connected crowns).
Is an Implant-Supported Bridge Right for Me?
Drs. Umansky and Nikmard may recommend an implant-supported bridge if you have lost more than one permanent tooth. When your dental implants need to be placed beside natural teeth, those natural teeth as well as your gums need to be good condition. Keep in mind that your jawbone needs to be healthy and dense enough to support your dental implants. If not, a bone graft may be suggested to build up the jawbone structure.
