A Practical Solution to Tooth Loss
We understand how tooth loss can have a devastating effect on your self-confidence. Tooth loss can also affect your oral health in the long run. At Aesthetic Dentistry Associates, we help you retain your oral health and confidence with dentures customized to your needs.
Having a missing tooth or having to have teeth removed can be a difficult situation, but dentures have improved dramatically and offer an affordable and effective way to return the beauty of your smile. Our top dentists are compassionate and skilled in the art of restoring smiles by matching you with the denture or partials you need to smile with confidence again.
Our Full Dentures
Traditional dentures are created once your teeth have been taken out and your gum tissues are healing well. At about two to three months after your teeth have been removed, your new dentures can be worn. Immediate dentures, in contrast, can be made early on and worn as soon as the teeth are taken out. Traditional dentures are often more popular than the immediate ones, mainly because your bones and gums are prone to shrinking, particularly while your mouth heals after the teeth have been removed.
Our Implant-Supported Dentures
Next is our implant-supported denture, which is a one kind of denture that is attached to dental implants for a secure, stable fit. Normal dentures sit on the gums without the support of an implant, but with an implant-supported denture, you can restore your smile when you no longer have teeth left in your jaw but still have sufficient bone density left to hold the implants. With the help of special attachments that simply snap onto the dental implants, you are good to go. Implant-supported attachments are ideal for your lower jaw because normal dentures usually are not as stable in that location. Not so with the upper jaw, where normal dentures can fit well and be stable on their own without requiring additional support with implants. You can still receive an implant-supported denture in either the upper or lower jaw if you prefer.
Our Partial Dentures
When you have a removable bridge or partial denture made from false teeth attached to a gum-colored, pink plastic base, a metal framework can sometimes be used to keep the denture correctly positioned in your mouth. You can opt for partial dentures if you have one or more natural teeth left in either the upper or lower jaw. With a fixed bridge, teeth can successfully be made from crowns held in place by teeth on either side of the space by attaching and cementing the artificial teeth. With a partial denture, you do not have to worry about your other teeth shifting out of their position, as there is no space or gap left. The crown will look natural as the partial denture has internal attachments connecting the neighboring crowns.
Caring for Your Dentures
With the proper care, your dentures can remain intact and retain their beauty for years to come. Remember to take good care of your dentures as you do your own teeth. There are various ways for you to do that:
- Get rid of remaining food particles by rinsing your dentures well before you brush your teeth.
- Be sure to thoroughly clean your teeth, gums, palate and tongue to get rid of harmful dental plaque buildup and keep your mouth safe from oral irritation.
- Clean your dentures using a soft-bristle toothbrush.
- Always keep your dentures in warm water when they are out of your mouth to prevent them from eventually warping.
- If you decide that you need a denture adhesive to keep them securely in place, please ask our dentists for appropriate solutions you can use, based on your unique needs.
